Welcome to the OFFICIAL website of the EKFA. Organized in 1952, we serve to assist the fire
departments and firefighters of Northeastern Kentucky with partnerships, training, mutual aid, resources and communication
to improve safety and the general quality of life in our region. The boundaries of the EKFA are generally set as the area
encompassing Region 10 of State Fire Rescue Training, with consists of Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence counties.
Our membership extends into neighboring areas, including Lewis County, KY and Wayne County in WV.
The EKFA is affiliated with the Kentucky Firefighters Association (KFA) on a state level, and is recognized by the KFA as
the official regional association representing Northeastern Kentucky. We are registered with the Secretary of State as a non-profit
corporation under Kentucky law, governed by an Executive Board of Directors consisting of 5 directors elected 1 from each
county, 1 at large Director elected from the entire group and the officers of the association. Day to Day operations of the
EKFA are handled by the executive officers, consisting of President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer.
We hope you enjoy your tour of our organization and sincerely invite you back often for updates
and other changes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the EKFA will be held at the Flatwoods Fire Dept.
on May 16th, 2012.
Meal will be served at 7pm with business meeting
immediately following. Contact Secretary Suttles at duane.suttles@kctcs.edu if you wish to place an item on the agenda. Anyone interested in assisting
with the 2013 KFA Conference to be held in Ashland in August of 2013, there will be a meeting on that topic at 5:30pm prior
to the EKFA meeting May 16th at Flatwoods FD.
